Pre CanSkate

This program is designed for early skaters who have very little skating experience.   Even if your child has never worn skates or has trouble standing on the ice, our skilled coaches will build their confidence in a structured, yet fun, environment.   Your child(ren) will learn how to stand, move forward and backward, get back up from the ice independantly, and turn on two feet.

It is a good idea to arrive at least 15-20 minutes earlier than the start time so that you have adequate time to get your child ready to go on the ice.  Each night you will have to pick up name badges to clip on their coats.  At the end of their session, there will be stickers for the children to choose from.  We will also periodically have information for you and it will always be picked up at the lobby table.

Please dress your child warmly (splash pants or snow pants and winter mitts are best) because they will be chilly and of course don’t forget your CSA approved hockey helmet!  It’s a good idea to pack an extra pair of mitts in case one gets wet.  It’s also a good idea to remind your child to visit the bathroom before the session begins.  Parents are expected to be available in the arena if their child needs to use the bathroom or needs to come off the ice for any reason so if you need to leave for a moment please ensure another parent is available should your child come off the ice.
